No Jump No Hammer

No Jump No Hammer is a full playthrough challenge run of Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. In this challenge the player plays through the game without selecting Jump or Hammer in Battle. Since it's impossible to beat Jr. Troopa in Paper Mario without using the Jump or Hammer Command, the run doesn't truly begin until obtaining Goombario.

Rules

Primary

  • Do not select Jump or Hammer in Battle (Badges included).
  • (TTYD) Equip Jumpman and Hammerman as soon as they become available.

Optional

  • Do not first strike enemies with Mario.
  • (TTYD) Equip Double Pain as soon as it becomes available.

Tips & Tricks

  • Making Mario as defensive as possible is the best approach to this challenge, since he can only deal damage to enemies with Items, Specials and Superguards.
  • Power Jump, Power Plus, etc. shouldn't be equipped since there's no point in increasing Mario's attack damage.
  • Upgrading and relying on partners as the main damage in fights is a good idea since they don't use any items or star power when attacking.
